Argentina Wouldn?t Mind Hosting MotoGP

In the MotoGP World Championship there are 18 stops on the calendar at different race venues, and the series has a penchant for looking to expand its global reach. It seems just about every season there’s a bevy of rumors about possible venues the premier class of motorcycle racing could stop at, and 2011 season is no different. While a Spanish GP is a sure-fire way of ensuring a massive attendance, there does seem to …

Remember that kick Anthony Pettis threw against Ben Henderson that made us all go crazy? Now everyone is trying it, including UFC heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos.

It was impressive enough when Pettis did it, but this time, it was a heavyweight who weighed in at 240 lbs. in his last bout. Yet, he was nimble enough to run off a wall and kick Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who was holding the Muay Thai pad.

Think we’ll see him pull it off against Brock Lesnar in June?

Google, according to reports from “a dozen executives working at key companies in the Android ecosystem” is finally locking down the open source and easily-fragmented Android operating system.

As it currently stands, Google hands over the ‘final’ code for each version of Android, and OEMs and developers then spend some time customizing the OS to fit their hardware, and to create a unique and marketable flavor. That’s all set to change, however.

Over the last few months, according to several people familiar with the matter, Android licensees such as HTC, Motorola and Facebook, have been asked to sign ‘non-fragmentation clauses.’ This new contract caveat will give Google the right to review and pass judgment on all changes to the Android OS. Two executives at Facebook say that they’re unhappy that Google gets to review its changes to Android — which is understandable, given Facebook and Google are direct competitors — and there have also been allegations that Google is preventing some Verizon devices from shipping because they include Microsoft’s Bing instead of Google search.

Rift for Windows, on Mac, with CrossOver

CrossOver Games, a commercial implementation of Windows emulator Wine, has been updated to version 10.1, bringing support for the new (and seemingly popular) Rift MMORPG to Linux and Mac PCs.

Beyond other bug and stability fixes, CrossOver 10.1 finally lets you install World of Warcraft with the Blizzard Downloader, and support for Star Trek Online’s launcher has been improved a bit (but the game itself still doesn’t perform fantastically).

CrossOver, if you’ve never heard of it before, is an emulation suite developed by CodeWeavers that lets you run many Windows programs on Mac and Linux computers. The list of supported programs is extensive, including Microsoft Office, and a ton of Windows games, such as Civilization, Fallout, EVE, Left 4 Dead, and so on.

There’s a free trial available, but to get a full license of CrossOver Pro will cost you around $70 — or $40, if you just want the CrossOver Games package. It’s worth the money, though, if you don’t want to play around with virtual machines and dual-booting.

Sachsenring 2009 MotoGP race analysis

While the weather had produced torrential downpours thoughout the preamble to this GP, it stayed dry for the action in Germany. climsy share images dropbox

Every now and then, there’s screen capture or image you stumble across that you just have to share. Climsy is a nice, simple Windows program which makes the process dead simple. It works the way FluffyApp does: take a screenshot or right-click and copy an image to your clipboard in any application, and Climsy will file it to a folder of your choosing or upload to either your Dropbox account, Imageshack, or to Climsy’s own server. There’s a configurable setting for automatic uploading, and Climsy will report back with a link to your file once the transfer has completed (which you can see above).

Right now, Climsy only supports full screen (Prt Scrn) or single application window captures (Alt+Prt Scrn). We’d like to see a selectable region capture, a la Screenpresso, added to round things out. We’d also like to see support for short URLs, just in case some of our links get a bit lengthy.

Climsy is available as an installer and as a portable application, and it’s totally free for both personal and commercial use. It’s incredibly lightweight, too — barely clocking more than 1MB of memory on our Windows 7 test rig.

We’ve professed our love for Tri-Coasta’s Korean Zombie shirts in the past. The shirt for Chan Sang Jung’s twister win over Leonard Garcia is no less awesome.

This one reminds me of playing "Super Mario Brothers," "Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out," and "Duck Hunt" on my old Nintendo. (Am I the only one who tried to shoot the dog on Duck Hunt? Stupid thing was always laughing at me.) Considering the way he fights, Jung would make one heck of an old-school video game character.

Get this very cool, limited edition shirt for $25 right here.
